Worked example

Convert a 5 km run to miles. Choose Length, from km, to mi, and enter 5. The answer is 3.106856 miles. The calculator turns 5 km into 5,000 metres, then divides by 1,609.344 metres per mile.

Tips

• Cooking: a US cup is about 237 ml and a tablespoon about 14.8 ml.
• Weight in kilograms to pounds: multiply by about 2.2.
• Pick the same type for both units. Length cannot convert to weight.
